Cranes In The Sky

I tried to pray

Hoping that God won’t let it stay

I tried to hide 

To cover wounds that lingered inside

I tried smiling

To stop the tears that fall like rain

I  tried  smoking

To numb the ache that still remains

I tried eating

To fill the emptiness in my soul. 

I tried sleeping

 but my nightmares just took hold

I tried running away

But it just followed every step.

I tried to buy it away

But it trapped me into massive debt.

I tried to sex it away

To distract myself from all the pain

I tried to work it away

To silence the noise that’s in my brain

I tried to fly

Up in the sky just like a crane

But no matter what I do,

It always finds a way back through.
