Sandcastles

This is a story of you and I

My favourite hello, my worst goodbye

A love that sparked, then slipped away

Like sunlight fading at end of day

Struck by Cupid’s gentle bow

I held on tight but you let me go

I got trapped while you broke free

You played me like a melody

The pain ran deep beneath my skin

In every game you had to win

The ball was always in your court

I chased your love you played the sport

I thought we’d make a perfect team

But I was pursuing a fleeting dream

I hoped of being something more

But I was foolish to think I could build a house upon the shore

You were like a sandcastle that washed away

Great in the moment but not meant to stay
